Macros and farmers, have 1 thing in common, they sell the ISK for money. Because they need huge amounts of ISK, in my humbble opinion, the ISK sellers stand out of the average eve player. For 2 reasons, they make continous ISK( no brakes) and they have alot of ISK transfers ( and I mean a LOT). Now I'm sure CCP can keep track of the transactions in their game.
Next, EVE has ISK trade hubs, consider this. Old players, who have a habbit of selling ISK might have a customeers list, but in the last years, the business escalated and now we have business owners.
These moguls, depending of what part of the world they are, have setup their business good, they get their isk in 2 ways: - they harvest the ISK( they made contacts in their country and around the world and made offers to people who have the time to farm their ISK, this was easiest made in the countries where internet-cafes are plenty)
- they went 1 step ahead, they setup a hangar, where they have from 10-200 ( the hundreds, are more in the eastern part of the world, where personal computers are available that much to general public) and employ people to work for them Or both of them.
NOW, I don't like ISK farmers in my game, I just don't like it ... and beside that, I know from first-second hand what's the impact on the grunts of these bussinises, meaning children which become adults working like this, which wont have any profession, who grows as a adult with socialising only with people from the farming group ( farming 14-16 hours per day, doesn't allow much else for social life), aka no future.
SO CCP, for humanitarian reasons or just because you love you're game, take steps to eradicate this plague.
For statistic reasons, try this : - track characters with very big online time everyday - track characters with large ISK transfers for no item exchange - for every character trace the IP, see how many related IP's transfer a lot of ISK Make a data base of ISK transfer/ IP / IP location/ characters, you should find 90% of them in no time. Anyway there is a lot more to tell, a lot more actions which can be taken and a lot more info to share, I bored you enough for one post.
One thing from the top of my head, virtual money/items selling, it's a multi-milion dollars bussines, some said it reached 50-90 milions dollar flow per year.
